How the numbers on this site are collected, what they mean, and what they don't.
Match results, appearances, minutes, goals, assists, cards and ratings are collected automatically from public football data sites and refreshed on a schedule. International caps and career totals come from the same sources. Anything we correct by hand — a transfer the feed hasn't caught, a loan, a missing player — is stored separately and overrides the automated data.
We don't. Ratings are produced by the statistics providers we collect from, using their own models of what a player did in a match. We store the number and average it — we don't adjust, weight or recalculate it.
It's an average across every match this season where a rating was published, weighted by appearances. Roughly: below 6.5 is a difficult afternoon, 6.5–7.3 is solid, 7.3+ is strong, 8+ is one of the best performances on the pitch. A goalkeeper and a striker are scored on very different things, so compare like with like.
Not reliably. A 7.2 in the Premier League and a 7.2 in the First Division are not the same achievement — the models are scaled within each competition. That's why sorting by rating warns you when no league filter is applied. Treat it as a guide to form, not a ranking of ability.
Every senior competitive match the provider covers for that player's club — league, domestic cups and European ties — plus international appearances. Academy and U21 fixtures appear where the player featured in them. Friendlies are included in match lists but don't always carry a rating.
The data refreshes on a schedule and the site rebuilds when it does. The footer on every page shows exactly when the current data landed, so you never have to guess whether you're looking at something stale.
A player is tracked if they've represented the Republic of Ireland at any level — senior, U21, U19, U17 — or are eligible and playing professionally. Eligibility is shown honestly on each profile: cap-tied, played underage but can still switch, or eligible and never played. Youth caps and friendlies don't tie a player to a country under FIFA rules; a competitive senior appearance does.
Any club in a fully professional or semi-professional senior league that the data covers — the League of Ireland, the English pyramid down to the National League, the Scottish and Northern Irish leagues, and the major European divisions. Academy and U21 teams are included where the player is contracted to the senior club.
Clubs come from the automated feed and are refreshed every time it runs — see the timestamp in the footer. Transfers can take a day or two to appear, and loan moves sometimes show the parent club first. If you spot one that's wrong, hit Report on the player's page and we'll fix it.
Use the Report button in the bottom corner of any page. It knows which player or match you were looking at, so you only have to describe the problem. Every report is read.
